Academic venue consortium Venuemasters is to invite organisers to meet with its members at an autumn event in Birmingham on 7 October. Conference Aston will host the event, which will put organisers in front of seven of the UK’s leading academic venues.
Leeds Beckett University events expert Jackie Mulligan will deliver a presentation on industry trends, including upcoming technology and the use of social media within events. She will be delivering tips on how to stay ‘ahead of the game’ to make an event stand out.
Venuemasters’ marketing manager Jo Mitchell said: “Academic venues have some of the best event facilities the country has to offer, and this will provide a fantastic opportunity for event organisers to explore in detail some of the best academic venues available, as well as get some expert advice from Jackie Mulligan.
“At Venuemasters we’re passionate about events, and our aim is to ensure that these fantastic venues are utilised and organisers are given all the information they need to guarantee future event success.”

Meanwhile, The Venue Expo, which returns in the North West, at Exhibition Centre Liverpool next month, has announced speakers and flagged the CPD accredited education opportunities at the show.
“This year we have put in significant effort to provide attendees with a good mix of talks which will provide valuable insights into the industry and skills they can take away and adopt in their own careers and businesses. A wealth of knowledge is available in our industry and at The Venue Expo 2015 we have various locations set up where this can be shared,” said Costa Fillis, marketing executive for organisers UKFE.
Seminars will take place in four purpose built theatres on the show floor. They include Event Technology, PA Hub, Live Production and Leadership.
Confirmed speakers include Google consultant Susan Dolan who will talk on ‘Twitter – Tweeting to a connected world’ and Jo Simpson who will deliver a session titled: ‘Leading from the inside out – Embrace your restlessness’.
And GPJ vice-president Kevin Jackson will deliver a presentation entitled: ‘You want to be successful? Here are the 20 things you need to know’.
