London-based event organisers will thrash out the details of a new apprenticeship standard at a meeting next month.
More than 30 event agencies have been invited to an industry advisory board meeting on 2 September at The Savoy hotel in London.
The employers will be told about work on creating an apprenticeship standard in events management and also hear about case studies from other industry sectors.
The Trailblazers programme has identified four areas to focus on: describing the attitude and approach that can best ensure the apprentice is set up for success in the industry; the professional skills and behaviours required; the commercial understanding and training; and the operational skills that once acquired can help form the foundations of a career within a number of different event disciplines.
The meeting will be followed by informal drinks for networking.
Mark Riches, managing director of First Protocol, is chair of the Industry Standards board alongside Sarah Wright, of Sarah Wright Consulting.
Sarah Wright said: “We are delighted to have been able to get the input from a broad range of agencies, suppliers and HR specialists from across the industry. After much debate and discussion, we have made significant progress and we look forward to moving forward and gaining feedback from across the industry to ensure it is fit for purpose.”
