Sky-high service levels brought down to earth is the promise of the NY-LON Lounge Bar at The O2.
The lounge has capacity for a maximum of 300 guests and features a large bar and seating area. In addition there is a small private event space.
Virgin Atlantic and Delta teamed up with Manchester-based design agency, LOVE, to create the 6,000-square foot space.
It will be managed on behalf of the airlines by Levy Restaurants UK, the sports, leisure and hospitality business of Compass Group UK & Ireland. Menu offerings will highlight both U.S. and British cuisine, as well as aviation themed cocktails.
Jon Tahanha, senior account manager at LOVE, said the agency won the pitch in a three-way battle.
He said: “In terms of billings, this is one of the biggest one-off projects for us this year. We were given a fairly open brief, which our creative love. The end result emphasis the service levels and design values both brands are known for. We are very excited about it because it is the first time any airline has done this, and the O2 is one of the best entertainment venues in the world.”
Reuben Arnold, senior vice resident of marketing and customer experience at Virgin Atlantic, said: “We’ve created NY-LON as a celebration of our trans-Atlantic network which provides customers with a seamless, more enjoyable way to fly between the U.K. and U.S. Our lounge bar will offer customers a brand-new experience at The O2 that showcases our airlines’ world-class service.”
Tim Mapes, Delta’s Senior vice president of marketing said: “The cities of New York and London are at the heart of everything we do. Opening NY-LON is the next exciting step in our partnership and we look forward to helping travellers enjoy the Delta-Virgin Atlantic brand of hospitality for which we’re famous when they next visit The O2.”
NY-LON is scheduled to open at the end of this month.
