Jane Baker joins Eventhuddle panel for One Wimpole Street debate

ISES UK president Kevin Jackson is to host and 2Heads agency director Jane Baker will join the panel for the first in a series of planned monthly ‘Eventhuddle’ events, 3 September, at One Wimpole Street in London.

The event is organised by Athena Events and the initial hot industry topic will be: ‘Are female only initiatives sexist?’

A live audience is invited to ask quiz the event experts, which include MD of the Team Umbrella agency Martin Ellis, on a hot topic of the day.

Event director, Kirk Thomas said: “We plan to have 80 event industry representatives attend each EventHuddle and every episode will be live streamed. We want event industry representatives from around the world to see these discussions and use what they learn to better steer the industry”.

Kevin Jackson added: “As we mature as an industry we need to force the debate on the things that will define us. Eventhuddle is, for me, an idea that will allow us to discuss and give direction to the resolution of major industry-wide issues.”

Ellis, who has made some controversial comments on some women-only initiatives in the industry, said: “I’m pleased to be involved in this interesting debate. I didn’t go into business to pander to politically correct box ticking, and I want to speak up for everyone who’s careers are held back by headline-grabbing initiatives.”

Baker, the latest panel recruit, added: “Women make up the majority of industry professionals yet a much lower proportion progress to senior management roles. We talk a lot about what causes this drop out but what we really need now is action. Female-only initiatives are a practical way of actually doing something to address the imbalance.”
