CI Group aims to grow margins by £400,000 following Ellipsis deal

An award-winning marketing communications firm has snapped up a creative design and event production agency.
David Watt, CEO of CI Group, said the purchase of Covent-Garden based Ellipsis would help boost gross margins to £2.4m.
The deal will swell the company’s headcount to almost 50.
Watt said the move will allow the group to move into creative production.
Ellipsis joins Corporate Innovations and Roundtable in the CI full-service marketing communications stable.
Corporate Innovations and Roundtable will continue to work from their offices in Oxfordshire and London. Chris Hoskins will continue to manage Ellipsis.
Watt said: “I’m delighted to welcome Ellipsis to the CI Group family. This complementary acquisition offers all our agencies tremendous synergies across the board, and adds a dedicated creative studio, with high profile event production capability, to our offer.
“Together, Ellipsis, Corporate Innovations and Roundtable provide a broader full service, integrated, marketing communications partner for clients across multiple sectors delivering behaviour change, ROI and tangible business benefits.
“We have consistently maintained our long-term expansion plans and this acquisition again demonstrates our ambition and intent to appeal and service a wider client base across increasing sectors.”
Chris Hoskins, managing director of Ellipsis, said: “For a number of years Ellipsis has been a highly successful boutique creative studio, however we feel we have much more to offer and the collaboration with CI Group will make all three agencies stronger.
”Together with Roundtable and Corporate Innovations we will be able offer a more complete and robust one-partner solution to clients, that builds on our unique flexibility, responsiveness and creativity with all the economic benefits to clients of a one-partner approach.”
Peter Thompson, CI Group chairman said: “I’m hugely excited that Ellipsis, Chris and his team are now part of CI Group.
We now have an increasing strength in depth to meet the broadening requirements of clients operating in multi-channel environments.
“The CI Group structure allows its component companies to continue to work independently, yet benefit from a myriad of opportunities of being part of a broader agency family.“
