London calling for boutique PR outfits

An organisation of international PR leaders has met outside the United States for the first time.
The eighth annual PR Boutiques International (PRBI) conference took place in London from 3-7 June.
The four-day event was organised by Midnight Communications, the UK representative member of PRBI.
The majority of the 30 delegates were from the US, but there were also representatives from Canada, Germany, Poland and the UK.
The leading authority on mergers and acquisitions in the PR industry, Mark Madsen, provided a fresh insight into business ownership and provoked a lively debate, while Arun Sudhaman of The Holmes Report shared a positive vision for the future of the PR industry
Networking events included a private afternoon tea at the House of Lords, tour of BBC Broadcasting House and a Thames river cruise.
PRBI member Julia Labaton, of Red PR in New York (pictured), said: “Highlights for me were the facilitator and speaker sessions that really helped us integrate and get to know one another in a productive way – as well as the private House of Lords tea and tour. I’m proud to be a part of this organisation and looking forward to next year’s conference.”
Caraline Brown, managing director of Midnight Communications said: “It was an honour to host the first PRBI conference outside of the USA in London – and I am proud that the Midnight team did our capital city justice. The feedback from our fellow members has suggested that this was one of the most enjoyable conferences to date, which, having experienced some fantastic previous events, is high praise indeed.”
Next year the event will be held in San Francisco.
