Farnborough International lands Chinese airshow deal

Farnborough International Ltd (FIL), organisers of the Farnborough International Airshow have confirmed they will be working with the Sichuan Provincial Government in China to plan and organise a Sichuan International Airshow in September 2017.

The announcement was made at the FIL stand at the Paris Airshow.

FIL has worked with a number of international governments and trade bodies on a consultancy level, including India Aviation and the Bahrain International Airshow.

FIL, in partnership with European Union Project Innovation Centre (EUPIC), has been in discussions with the Sichuan Provincial Government over several months.

The new show will take place over five days at the Guanghan Airport, 65km north east of Chengdu, the provincial capital.

While the full scope of work is still being agreed, it is expected that FIL will bring its operational and sales and marketing expertise to the table.

From an operational point of view, FIL’s team will work with the relevant government departments to help make Guanghan Airport – currently a pilot training facility for the Civil Aviation Flight University – fit for purpose. This will include the development of exhibition facilities, traffic management, exhibitor and visitor registrations, catering and other logistical elements.

FIL chief executive, Shaun Ormrod said: “The benefits of hosting an airshow in Chengdu for the Sichuan Provincial Government are boundless. Not only will it create a spotlight for the aerospace industry in the region it will boost the local economy and hopefully create an event that residents of Chengdu and the wider Sichuan province can be proud of. We have an experienced team here at FIL who will be able to advise on every level.”
