Keele readies for hot summer of events

Keele University is expecting to
welcome 10,000 delegates and visitors to its campus for a summer schedule of
events including banquets, conferences and summer schools. The Staffordshire
University’s Conferences and Events team claims is its busiest ever summer.

The University’s venues, including Keele Hall, a 19th Grade II
listed building, report more than 100 bookings for conferences and events
between June and September this year – a significant increase on 2014.

Already, 25 residential
conferences and 30 one-day meetings, as well as two summer schools, have been
booked, Marcus Wilson, head of marketing at Keele University, tells CN.

He adds: “It’s certainly hotting
up for summer at Keele. We’re really looking forward to a busy events programme
– in fact it will be so busy that the population of Keele campus would double
if all our summer guests appeared at once.

“However, with events spread out
across the summer period and our £300,000 investment in refurbishing
accommodation at the Keele Management Centre, there is plenty of opportunity
for more events.”

The busy summer is headlined by the UK Corporate Games, which is expected to attract 1,000 guests to
the campus, as well as spreading over other venues across Staffordshire. The
competition could bring an extra £2.5m to the region, according to the venue
team.
