Royal presence at drp’s Young Carers conference

Communications agency drp hosted the YSS Worcestershire
Young Carers annual conference at its Hartlebury studio on 20 April.

Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, attended and spoke
at the conference as patron of YSS.

The event also launched the county’s Young Carers in Schools
programme. Since 2001, YSS has provided individual support to approximately
20,000 people over this time across West Mercia, while maintaining a workforce
of 100 volunteers. The event is one of drp’s 35 CSR projects, being undertaken
as part of the agency’s 35th Anniversary celebrations.

The YSS Worcestershire Young Carers worked closely with drp
team, learning the intricacies of how to deliver an event. On the day of the
conference, they stepped into the roles they had been studying and managed the
conference logistics themselves.

Dale Parmenter, drp CEO, said: “Each year drp holds a
Christmas party for the drp team’s own children. This year we ran the event
twice, once for our team and once for the YSS Worcestershire Young Carers. We
were blown away by the incredible sacrifices these young carers have had to
make and the amazing support provided to them by YSS. We had to find a way to
support them further and so this conference, which we worked with the careers
on creating, has been our pleasure to deliver. Each carer delivering the event
has been amazing and we were all inspired by Her Royal Highness, The Princess
Royal’s insightful words.”
