James Macbeth Stewart has announced he is to leave Mottram Hall in Cheshire.
He has worked for De Vere Hotels for five years, the last three being at Mottram Hall.
He managed a £6m investment and development in July 2012 and received Mottram Hall’s award for Best Luxury Hotel at the Eat, Sleep, Drink Awards 2015.
The resort was sold by De Vere Hotels Group to investors in late 2014 and is managed by QHotels.
Stewart’s personally emailed announcement said: “It has been a privilege for the second time in my career to lead Mottram and this great team during this period of redevelopment and repositioning. I wish the team and QHotels continued success into the future.”
At this time, Stewart was unable to advise us where his next challenge would be.
A spokesperson from QHotels, added: We can confirm that James Stewart resigned as the general manager of Mottram Hall Hotel in order to pursue a new opportunity. We are sorry to be losing James but thank him most sincerely for the key role he has played in the successful redevelopment of Mottram Hall and wish him all the very best in his new venture.
Replacing Stewart at Mottram Hall will be Michael Lavizani (pictured), who moves from Mottram’s sister hotel, the Telford Hotel and Golf Resort. Lavizani has considerable experience of running golf resorts and previously ran Shrigley Hall Hotel Golf and Country Club.
He will start at Mottram Hall next week and will report to Mike Magrane, QHotels’ regional general manager.
