GainingEdge, a global convention industry consulting firm, has appointed Paul Vallee to head up its operations in the Americas.
Vallee brings with him 25 years experience in destination sales, marketing and services management and was formerly executive vice-president of Tourism Vancouver (the Metro Vancouver Convention and Visitors Bureau).
Vallee will lead GainingEdge’s development efforts in both North and South America and will also replace Jane Vong Holmes as MD of BestCities, the global convention bureau alliance that is managed by GainingEdge. Holmes, who has served in this role for the past six years, will now be shifting more focus to her role as senior manager of GainingEdge’s Asian operations.
“Paul adds additional strength to our consulting team in general, but also gives us a permanent presence in North America,’ says GainingEdge CEO, Gary Grimmer. “That is key for us, because we understand clearly that if we want to provide support to the industry there, we need a strong, capable and well known presence in-market.”
Vallee has also been very involved in helping guide BestCities over the years by representing Vancouver’s participation on the board of directors of the world leading bureau alliance.
“I’m excited about this new appointment for two reasons,” Vallee says. “It provides the opportunity to work for BestCities and to help to further develop its success and strategic direction. At the same time I get to be part of GainingEdge’s expansion efforts in the Americas. GainingEdge is well established in all other parts of the world – it has already been exploring opportunities in Latin America as a developing market. But, North America is a major developed market, and our goal is to make sure people know that GainingEdge is here to support their needs as well.”
