Midlands networking event is on the money

Conference organisers have raised £1,000 for a cancer charity.

Jen Boilestad, community fundraiser at the Brain Tumour Charity, said the money raised by members of the Midlands Consortium of Conference Organisers (MCOCO) will fund four days of research into finding a cure for a disease which is the biggest cancer killer of people under 40, including children.

Her charity was nominated for the fundraising initiative at a showcase event at Chateau Impney in Droitwich Spa by Ian Brown, boss at Ian Brown Associates.

MCOCO is a group of like-minded hotel booking agents based in the Midlands who meet regularly and organise frequent agent/partner networking events.

More than 100 representatives from 30 event organising agencies attended the 12th annual showcase and held appointments with 46 venues and suppliers from across the country.

Agencies from the likes of Arrangemygroup, Conference Care and HelmsBriscoe networked with venues such as The Dorchester Collection, Well Met Conferencing and the Eden Hotel Collection.

Ellis Salsby, boss at Ellis Salsby Ltd, said: “In a nutshell, bookers were able to send two hours of dedicated time outside of the working day to make contact with 46 suppliers. This was the largest venue we have held the event in and we changed the format slightly to provide a sit-down dinner where buyers and suppliers could continue to network.”
