The winner of a television cookery completion will create the dishes at a new conference centre and tourist attraction.
Steven Edwards, who won MasterChef: The Professionals in 2013 will team up caterer Centerplate at Brighton’s i360 observation tower.
The seafront venue will feature facilities for conferences, corporate and private events and wedding receptions for 10 to 800 guests; a heritage tea room in the 1866 West Pier toll booth; and a beach-level 400-seat full service brasserie.
Building work on the i360 started last year with the attraction set to open next summer.
Centerplate, which is providing capital investment through the funding and installation of the i360’s kitchen and dining facilities, has a background in hospitality design and management services.
The caterer said it plans to stage regular special ‘pop up’ dining events where people can enjoy exceptional cooking as well as meeting chefs Steven Edwards and Josh Stanzl (pictured).
Eleanor Harris, CEO of the Brighton i360, said: “I am delighted to be working with Centerplate, who have proved that they can cater well for thousands of visitors at top attractions across the country.
“Our goal in creating the destination brasserie is to offer the best of Sussex and we are particularly thrilled to welcome Steven Edwards and Josh Stanzl on board, bringing with them AA and Michelin kitchen experience and adding a special local flavour to our offer. We will serve the superb ingredients that are reared, grown, caught and brewed within the 26 mile viewing radius that you can see from the i360.”
Edwards said: “Josh and I are really looking forward to working with this amazing new venue. We are Sussex chefs through and through and have a fantastic larder to choose from. We will always use quality local ingredients to create unique, simple dishes focusing on getting the most out of each ingredient we use.”
