Mark Kermode heads the bill at EVCOM’s first screen awards

A top movie
critic will host the inaugural EVCOM Screen Awards ceremony later this month.

The awards, held
in association with the EVCOM Production Partners, will take place at Grosvenor
House Hotel on Park Lane, London, on 27 March. They will be presented by Mark Kermode, resident film reviewer for
The Observer.

Kermode reviews
films for BBC Radio 5 Live’s Sony award-winning Kermode and Mayo’s Film Review;
the BBC News Channel’s Review Show and BBC2’s Culture Show.

He airs his
personal views on his Kermode Uncut Blog and invites viewers to give their own
opinions.

Kermode began his
career in film journalism and broadcasting in the 1980s and wrote his PhD
thesis on horror fiction.

With his wife
Professor Linda Ruth Williams, he curates the Shetland Film Festival and hosts
regular seasons at the BFI.

EVCOM CEO Marco Forgione
said: “EVCOM Screen Awards are the highest accolade in our industry. It is
a testament both to their status and to the profile of our industry that the
UK’s leading film critic will be our host.”
