Grass Roots leadership moves signal bigger global ambitions

Customer engagement agency Grass Roots has moved its COO Andy Lister (pictured) into a global strategy role (chief strategy officer) and chief financial officer Zarin Patel has stepped up to take on the COO responsibilities in a shake up at the top of the executive leadership team.
The group is prioritising its global expansion on the back of its best trading results in 34 years.
Lister’s new remit is to concentrate on ensuring that Grass Roots’ product portfolio is “compelling and profitable”, and to identify new global growth opportunities. New product development will also move into Lister’s remit.
Patel’s increased responsibilities come just a year after she joined the agency from the BBC, where she was their longest-serving CFO.
The other major leadership change is divisional director for promotions and incentives Ian Horsham being given management responsibility for the Grass Roots businesses in Singapore, India and Spain – territories in which he is already growing Grass Roots’ global portfolio.
Richard Bandell, Grass Roots CEO, announcing the changes, said: “These moves are extremely important for the future of Grass Roots. We have great strengths in our executive leadership team, and on our journey towards 2020 we need to channel our talent effectively to ensure we are focusing on our core strategic priorities at all times, with particular emphasis on creating value for clients through our first-class product portfolio.’
