London-based travel management agency The Appointment Group has reorganised three of its businesses, including its global events division, into one, all now trading under the Appointment Group (UK) brand.
The Events by Appointment brand will become dormant.
The agency says the legal name change, at the end of the company’s financial year, is a strategic move designed to acknowledge the business as one truly global entity.
The company has offices in London, Manchester, New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Melbourne and Sydney.
Group events director Sam Robson (pictured) says: “The benefits of operation under one company name allows us to more effectively track local and global trade with suppliers and vendors, bringing greater global traction to achieve the lowest costs and deliver co-ordinated services.”
Robson explains the structural changes are a means to streamline and be more efficient, as well as to negotiate all supplier contracts under one umbrella using combined buying power.
The common supplier elements between each of the divisions (Global Touring, Global Corporate Travel and Global Events) are hotels and airlines.
Financial results for 2014 will be detailed as Events by Appointment and from 2015 as The Appointment Group.
“Increasingly, our existing and new clients want to have their travel and event needs met by one company, especially for international events,” Robson adds. “This is also happening on an international level where we work with clients who have offices in the UK and US and we provide our event service in both continents.”
She says there are no redundancies as a result of the reorganisation and that the group is “expanding rapidly”.
At the beginning of February, Robson reports, the agency ran a four-day Kick Off for 330 employees of NTT Com Security with exclusive use of Club Med Opio in Nice. Delegates came from all over the world and The Appointment Group managed the flights, website registration and all event logistics.
