London venue the Barbican has been awarded the Platinum Clean City Award in recognition of its green practices.
The award recognises the outstanding practices in waste management and recycling among organisations in the City of London, with only 20 buildings awarded platinum from more than 3,000 applicants.
“We work hard to improve and preserve our green credentials, so to receive this recognition is a fantastic achievement for the Barbican,” said Lee Dobson, head of event management at Barbican Business Events.
Several issues that were instrumental in the judges’ decision-making at the Clean City Awards 2014 included:
- Providing recycling opportunities for visiting guests in all public spaces
- Recycling areas in conferencing areas
- Opportunities for staff recycling in back of house areas.
The Clean City Awards scheme is run by the City of London Corporation.
