The seventh annual Summer in the City, the UK’s biggest YouTube event, will relocate to Excel London from Alexandra Palace this year.
The event, which takes place 15-16 August, will bring together YouTube viewers, content creators and brands. A day targeted towards industry professionals and content creators will take place on 14 August.
Organisers Vlogger Events say the new venue will support its ambitions to grow the event, allowing more creators and fans to visit over the three days. The 2015 event will include a variety of live stage performances, Q&A sessions, meet and greet opportunities, screenings and brand exhibitions.
Last year, the event attracted 1,000 visitors on the Friday and 8,000 across the Saturday and Sunday. This year, Vlogger Events expects to increase this to 2,000 on the Friday and 10,000 across the weekend.
Tom Burns, founder of Summer in the City, said: “This year will be Summer in the City’s biggest year yet, as we once again expect to see thousands of attendees from across the globe. We’re excited to be at Excel this year and feel that it is just the beginning of much larger things to come, as our event continues to grow with the YouTube platform and is seen as one of the most prestigious YouTube events in the world.”
Excel London executive director, James Rees, said: “We are delighted to be the host venue for what’s set to be the biggest Summer in the City yet and will support their ambition to grow the event now and in the future. It’s fantastic to be welcoming brands such as YouTube, as well as the likes of Adobe, LinkedIn and Hewlett Packard, in what will be our busiest ever year.”
