Guyzance Hall leaps up to buy Wordsworth Hotel

Northumberland hotel operator Guyzance Hall has taken over four-star property The Wordsworth Hotel & Spa in the Lake District, for an undisclosed sum. The hotel was previously owned by Iain Garside.

The hotel is the group’s first purchase in Cumbria, and joins a portfolio of five properties located in Northumberland, the Scottish Borders, and Midlothian.
Operations director Eric Kortenbach said the hotel, established in 2008, fitted in well with the collection. “We intend to invest in both the hotel and staff, and hope to encourage our guests from the north to visit Grasmere.”
The group purchased Ednam House, Kelso, in April 2014, and has invested significantly in its restoration. Other Guyzance properties include Dalhousie Castle outside Edinburgh, and three established Northumbrian properties: Doxford Hall, Eshott Hall and Guyzance Hall.
The Wordsworth has 2 AA Rosettes for its Signature Restaurant, and has had its 39 bedrooms, function suites, spa and leisure facilities refurbished.
