United States-based venue procurement agency network HelmsBriscoe is expanding its leadership team in Europe, a move it says is designed to meet the needs of its expanding global team of associates and client base.
Rob Harrison, the CEO who quit Contendam, the UK successor to Congrex UK, shortly before the company went into liquidation at the end of October, less than a year after a management buyout, has joined HelmsBriscoe as associate regional vice-president with a remit to support HB’s London and southeast UK areas.
“I am honoured to be a part of this growing global organisation and respected industry leader,” Harrison said. “As HelmsBriscoe continues to achieve new industry milestones, I am thrilled that I will be able to play a role in that process, and privileged to embark on this next chapter of my career with them”.
“Rob’s strong background and global experience as a leader in the industry make him an excellent fit and wonderful resource for our growing organisation. As our company continues to reach new heights, Rob’s industry relationships and knowledge will be another added benefit for our clients and our network of Associates,” said Carole McKellar, HelmsBriscoe’s executive director for Europe.
HelmsBriscoe announced a record-breaking year in 2014 with bookings of just over US$1bn, representing 5.3m room nights and more than 40,000 programmes. The company claims it is first time in the industry anyone has delivered one billion dollars in group rooms revenue to the industry in a single year.
