What is the concept behind Online Personal Training?
Online Personal Training provides access to the benefits of Personal Training anywhere in the world. Having your own dedicated Personal Trainer has proven to be the most effective way to achieve results and by working online with clients it means anyone can access professional guidance.
Online Personal Training means no need to pay for gym membership, no need to pay £50+ per hour for a PT session and, ultimately, no more wasted time and energy on poor exercise programmes.
Different levels of programmes are available starting from £1 per day and can include printable programmes, access to a mobile app and weekly Skype calls to your trainer.
Why did you decide to get involved in this type of training?
While working as a Fitness Manager for Health Club chain David Lloyd I realised there was a lot more we can do as an industry to provide help with health and fitness. Over 60 per cent of the UK is currently classed as overweight, and this figure is rising. A massive factor contributing to these statistics is that, for most of us, health and fitness has become confusing. There are thousands of exercise plans and diets accessible to us and most of them claim to be ‘the best on the market’, so we continue doing exercises we’ve been told we must do and eating the foods we feel we must eat, when really we can’t stand most of them. The truth is, there is no ‘one size fits all’ answer to improving your fitness, and Online Personal Training provides an opportunity to receive professional advice that is specific to you and your lifestyle.
How exactly does Online Personal Training work?
With our one-to-one coaching plans clients fill in a specific consultation form online detailing their goals, lifestyle factors and any injuries and/or health considerations. Your personal trainer then processes this information and designs an individual exercise programme for you. Programmes are accessible on your mobile phone or tablet via an exclusive app, which includes exercise videos, calendar scheduling and progress tracking software. We also offer a variety of pre-built programmes ready to print from the website.
What are the advantages of this type of personal training?
The major benefit is that you can access your programme anywhere, anytime. Time is a valuable commodity and making best use of that is essential to long-term success. Many of our clients have exercise programmes designed to squeeze in 20 minutes before breakfast in a hotel room with no equipment.
Is online fitness for everyone?
I believe so. Having a professional guide you through your programme and keep you motivated throughout is the most powerful tool you can have. All ‘real life’ clients I train in my fitness studio are using the online training to complement what we do. With the technology available I can provide the same level of service to online-only clients.
Why is it important to incorporate fitness into everyday life?
‘Treat the cause not the symptom’ is one of my favourite fitness quotes. Think about how your everyday life impacts your health and make small changes to help improve it. It could mean simply taking the stairs instead of the lift each morning or even just taking 10 minutes out of your lunch break to get some fresh air and have a walk. This is far easier than waiting five years to realise you are overweight and then beating yourself up on a 12-week boot camp to try and make up for it.
What advice would you give to individuals starting a new fitness journey in 2015?
Set smart, realistic goals and take small steps each day to achieve them.
Top tip for sticking to fitness goals and not giving up?
Display your goals somewhere you can see them everyday. My weight loss group all have their goals stuck to their fridge door so that every time they are looking for food they have to stare them in the face.
