Middlesex-based TRO agency was the big winner at the final Eventia Awards, which took place at the London Hilton on Park Lane, Friday 28 November.
The awards, to be merged into the EVCOM brand fold next year, were compered by comedian Ed Byrne who’s comedy hit the high spot from the off.
The Valentinas, The Plague Dance Group and Britain’s Got Talent Finalists Jack Pack added to the entertainment programme during an evening which celebrated the best of the best in the event industry.
TRO scooped the 2014 Events Agency of the Year and Platinum awards as well as five other golds.
The awards are a fitting present for TRO Chairman Rob Allen who stepped down at the end of November 2014 after 18 years with the agency.
Next year the awards will morph into the EVCOM Experience Awards, and the ceremony will take place on 20 November at Olympia London.
Eventia CEO Marco Forgione said: “The Awards were a spectacular success attracting increased number of entries from a broader range of agencies, we increased the number of attendees for what was a wonderful celebration of success.
“In recognition of the substantial changes which have taken place in our industry I am delighted that next year we will be hosting the EVCOM Experience Awards at Olympia London.”
Despite the increased number of entries, one or two categories were clearly short of competition with ‘certificates’ rather than winners awards being given out. Perhaps fewer categories might be something for organisers to consider in 2015. Details of the new categories and entry criteria are promised in the New Year.
Monies raised during the Eventia Awards 2014 silent auction and prize draw will be donated to The Children’s Air Ambulance.
The evening was rounded off by The Young Guns collective, who rocked the after show party till the early hours courtesy of Young Guns.
The event was managed by FAB! and the Outstanding corporate social responsibility gold award, sponsored by Conference News, was presented by Managing Editor Paul Colston to The Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict by M-is for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. The Silver award in the category went to: ‘Running for a cause: TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2013’ by Tata Consultancy Services.
