30 venues represented at Venuemasters conference

The annual Venuemasters conference attracted 100 delegates from over 30 academic venues recently.

Meeting in Shropshire’s Telford Innovation Campus, the UK venue consortium’s gathering included learning and networking opportunities for members, keynote speakers, seminars and training workshops.

The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Great expectations – delivering service excellence’, and half the delegates were first-time attendees.

Keynote speakers of day one included entrepreneur and comedian Shed Simove who impressed with his talk on ‘Creating innovation and ideas’, while sales and marketing maverick Kevin Parr provided an energetic presentation on ‘Choosing a growth mind-set and creating raving fans’.
On the final day, Linda Moir shared her experiences with Virgin Airlines In-Flight services and as leader of the London Olympic 2012 ‘Games Makers’ volunteers.

Marketing and Membership Manager Natalie Hudson said the 2014 conference had run one of the strongest programmes to date. “We hope all our delegates left with plenty of fresh ideas to take back to their venues.”

In 2015 Venuemasters takes its annual conference to College Court, part of the University of Leicester, from 18-20 November.
