Twickenham completes West Stand conference refurb

Twickenham Stadium has completed refurbishment work on its West Stand conference and hospitality facilities, as part of the Rugby Football Union’s £76m investment in the stadium ahead of the World Cup tournament in 2015.

Four of the stadium’s VIP suites have received a design overhaul, including new technology infrastructure and the addition of new floor-to-ceiling windows to maximise views of the
Twickenham turf.

Access to the stadium’s popular spaces for day conferences, the Spirit of Rugby room and Member’s Lounge, has also been improved with a new guest entrance.

In addition to a new range of furniture throughout the event spaces, the hospitality facilities have been further enhanced with the addition of new bar areas in the Council Room and Ante Room of the President’s Suite and a larger Member’s Lounge bar.

Twickenham Experience MD Chris Morris, says: “These are exciting times as we see our venue develop to deliver an even better experience to delegates and hospitality guests. As we prepare to host the world’s finest rugby teams in September 2015, we are also preparing to host the finest event experiences at the stadium. The new developments bring a fresh feel to our spaces and create more opportunities for a range of events and enhanced technology infrastructure.”

CN recently reported that Twickenham Experience’s Head of Conference and Event Sales Samme Allen is moving on to work for Glasgow’s SECC venue after less than a year in post.

Morris tells CN he is confident of continuity in the sales team, however.

“It has been an extremely busy year so far at Twickenham and the recruitment process for our new Head of Conference and Event Sales is well under way. We are aiming to announce a replacement for Samme before the end of the year. Our sales team is well established and performing superbly, supported by our two business development managers who have been working hard on building relationships with corporate and agency contacts in our countdown to the World Cup in 2015.

“In terms of Samme moving on from Twickenham, Samme is a consummate professional and has contributed a lot during her time here. Samme has chosen to accept a new opportunity with a different remit from the role here at Twickenham which fits her professional goals and we wish her every success in her new role.”

Twickenham Experience Limited (TEL) is a joint venture between the RFU and Compass Group.
