The Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre (SECC) has appointed Samme Allen (pictured) as Head of Business Development, Corporate Sales. Allen moves on after less than a year at her current post as Head of Conference and Events Sales at the Twickenham Experience.
“The venue is making significant leaps forward following a landmark year,” says Kathleen Warden, Director of Conference Sales at the SECC. “In the coming years we remain committed to developing the product, and we continue to look at the very best people to help us grow the business; Samme is a best in class professional and is the perfect fit for our ambitions.”
Allen will take up the post for the SECC in January 2015, although she will be based in London.
Allen has also previously worked at the Barbican, and headed Meetings Professionals International (MPI) UK & Ireland Chapter and been a Vice-Chair of the Business Visits & Events Partnership.
“I’m delighted to be joining such an iconic venue at such a pivotal time for the business,” says Allen. “The SECC takes corporate business seriously and there is a great opportunity to encourage the sector to benefit from the facilities and infrastructure around the SECC.”
Corporate events won by the SECC over the last few months include events for Clydesdale Bank and Heineken.
