have been revealed for a new multi-purpose event space to be built in a major
redevelopment on the grounds of the Yorkshire Event Centre (YEC) in Harrogate.
redevelopment is scheduled to commence once the Great Yorkshire Show closes in
July 2015, with YEC’s current Hall 1 set to be demolished in readiness for a
new 4,320sqm multi-purpose event hall, which will open in June 2016. Combined
with the existing Hall 2, the redevelopment will provide 6,270sqm of linked
exhibition or event space.
Managing Director Heather Parry said: “The new Hall 1 is a huge investment and
is a massive vote of confidence in Harrogate
as an events destination. It will help YEC build on the £47m that we
generate in economic benefit for the region’s economy every year.”
Paul Ashton, YEC’s newly appointed Head of Sales, added: “YEC is
already embedded in the world of consumer exhibitions, but the new hall will
give us the opportunity to expand further into large corporate events, which,
as the economy improves, is a growing sector.”
