Leeds Beckett University hosts Leeds Business Week launch event

Leeds Beckett University hosted the launch of what it says was the UK’s biggest business week in October. The launch event for Yorkshire Mafia’s Leeds Business Week 2014 took place at Well Met Conferencing’s flagship venue, The Rose Bowl.

Attended by delegates from public and private sector businesses in the city, as well as representatives from the city’s arts and culture, creative and digital sectors, the evening included speeches from Tom Riordan, Chief Executive of Leeds City Council and Professor Susan Price, Vice Chancellor at Leeds Beckett University.

The theme of the launch event was Building on the Grandest Grand Depart: Where we go next in positioning Leeds as a growing, successful city.

Kate Davis, Head of Business Development for Campus and Residential Services at Leeds Beckett University said: “We are delighted to welcome back Leeds Business Week and support a number of events throughout Leeds Business Week. It is hugely important that Leeds continues to capitalise on the reputation and acclaim it has gained this year through the Tour de France, and the opportunity that events like these provide.”

Geoff Shepherd, event organiser for Mafia Yorkshire, added: “Leeds Business Week is growing, both in size and popularity. Support from organisations like Leeds Beckett University is vital as their presence gives delegates a wider range of information, as well as the opportunity to meet with students.”

Leeds Business School was the headline sponsor for the event and hosted or supported several other events across the week, including a ‘Festival of Business’ – a day of seminars and workshops for business owner, at the Leeds Club, the Smarter Cities Conference at the Royal Armouries, and a BBC Question Time-inspired Leeds City Summit at Salem Chapel.

Leeds Business Week is a one-week business degree, bringing Yorkshire’s business people together to network, develop commercial value and build better business relationship. The week includes a programme of over 100 events taking placeincluding expos, networking, seminars, product launches, workshops, breakfast and networking.
