EIBTM 2014 opens to whole new world rebrand

Meetings and events industry tradeshow, EIBTM, organised by Reed Travel Exhibitions, officially opened its doors in Barcelona today (18 November), as it is revealed the show will be re-branded to IBTM World.
Sallie Coventry, Portfolio Director for IBTM Global Events, revealed that an overall rebrand of the portfolio will see all of Reed’s global events fall under the new parent brand, IBTM Events.
The decision for the portfolio rebrand is to ensure a single voice to encompass each global event, their logos, brand values and the entire event experience, said Coventry.
EIBTM 2014, which runs until 20 November at Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, has seen 78,430 pre-scheduled appointments between buyers and exhibitors, a 20 per cent increase on the 2013 show.
This year’s show sees a host of new features, with Graeme Barnett, Senior Exhibition Director EIBTM, reiterating that the ultimate aim is “to continue to evolve the product to meet the needs of the global community”.
New features for the 2014 show include My Association|My Club, which Barnett said delivers on flexibility for planners with itineraries combining business and independence.
From the 290 association planners at the show, 67 per cent are from individual associations; something Barnett said represents a “dramatic change” from previous years.
This year, a new online self-select appointment tool has been introduced to enable exhibitors to have more of say in regards to whom they want to meet with.
The Hosted Buyer Programme for the 2014 show sees 4,100 meeting planners from 71 countries. The programme received 5,200 applicants.“The Hosted Buyer Programme is alive and well, particularly when it comes to EIBTM,” Barnett said.
This year, 1,096 buyers are participating in pre-and-post show tours, while co-located events alongside EIBTM 2014 include the ICCA Forum for Young Professionals, SITE Young Leaders and MPI Chapters Leaders Meeting.
The EIBTM 2014 Knowledge Programme will see 36 individual sessions being delivered by 70 international speakers. As part of the portfolio rebrand, CIBTM becomes IBTM China, following AIBTM America’s recent rebrand to ITBM America.
