London’s Congress Centre is to host a major health industry event, the ukactive summit, for a third year in succession.
What claims to be the largest political event in the health and fitness sector’s annual calendar, the ukactive National Summit, opens this week (13 November) at the TUC’s Great Russell Street venue, WC1.
The event will examine the future of physical activity and the public health agenda and is expected to attract 400 senior influencers from across physical activity, health, policy, brand, media, research, the charity space, and local authority commissioning.
Former Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell OBE and Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Health, are among the speakers.
Professor Kevin Fenton, Director of Health and Wellbeing, Public Health England, Parliamentarian and former Paralympian Baroness Grey-Thompson DBE, former Director of Strategy at number 10 Lord Andrew Cooper, and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Public Health, Jane Ellison MP will also address delegates.
Ukactive Events Manager Christina Edscer, says the organisation decided to return to the venue again in 2014 because of Congress Centre’s location close to multiple transport links and its breakout space, as well as the purpose-built stage and equipment on site. “The Congress Centre ticks all those boxes for us.”
