Europe’s largest showcase for new drugs and pharmaceutical innovations is on its way to Telford after the town’s The International Centre landed The Drug Discovery 2015 and 2016 conferences.
Organised by ELRIG (European Laboratory Robotics Interest Group), the event has become the largest free-to-attend conference and networking gathering of its kind in Europe, and more than 1,000 delegates are expected to attend.
Southwater Event Group, which owns The International Centre, has worked closely with the organisation for many months and its Sales and Marketing Director, Alison Griffin, said: “Having already hosted some of ELRIG’s events, we feel we have demonstrated our great venue, location and service, and we believe this has influenced the organisers’ decision to bring ELRIG 15 and 16 to Telford.
“And with the multi-million pound Southwater convention quarter now open for business right on our doorstep, we’re confident we will attract even more events on this scale.”
As well as more than 100 exhibitors, delegates will also get the chance to hear about the latest developments in the industry at more than 90 scientific presentations.
Training courses will be on offer and there will be a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style session where delegates will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to some of the industry’s leading figures.
ELRIG Chairman Sanj Kumar said: “We are delighted to be bringing our 48-hour festival of all that is new and relevant in our industry to Telford, and we’re looking forward to experiencing the destination for the very first time.
“ELRIG is a voluntary organisation at the very hub of the drug discovery community in the UK, and we pride ourselves on delivering high calibre events.
“It’s extremely exciting to be bringing the largest event of its kind in Europe to The International Centre.”
