Telford’s first IMAX Cinema has been chosen as the host venue for the Cineworld Management Convention 2014.
The Convention will welcome over 200 Managers from across the UK for a two-day conference.
Taking advantage of the new Convention Quarter in the heart of Telford, organisers will use IMAX for their main convention alongside The International Centre, onsite hotels, entertainment and hospitality venues.
Cinema GM Phil Jones said: “Telford ticked all the boxes for the organisers. The destination’s new Convention Quarter impressed them with the range of visitor facilities in one compact location.
“It’s a real coup for us to be chosen from over 80 cinemas in the Cineworld estate across the UK to host the annual management conference. Winning this event for Telford recognises the venue as a major player in the meeting and conferencing arena.”
The 11 screen Cineworld IMAX boasts three dedicated conference theatres for up to 350 people and state of the art digital technology. Each theatre has a LANSAT satellite worldwide broadcast feed and a 30ft high projection screen. The venue also has its own in-house events team and caterers.
Sarah Bird, Business Tourism Manager at Meet Telford & Shropshire, added that, prior to the venue’s launch, the nearest IMAX facility was 40 miles away in Birmingham. The opening, she said, “truly showcases the growing level of attraction from major investors in the region.
“This is a fantastic milestone for Telford and Shropshire and we’re thrilled with the wide range of additional business facilities the IMAX Cinema will provide,” she said.
