QHotels named AA Hotel Group of the year

QHotels has been named AA Hotel Group of the Year 2014/15. The special conference hotel chain received the award on 22 September in London.
The chain has recovered from its insolvency in January 2013 to reorganise and be recognised for its ongoing investment plan, its approach to corporate and social responsibility, focus on the quality of food and drink, and for delivering high levels of customer service.
QHotels MD Michael Purtill (pictured) said: “It has been a fantastic year for QHotels and this prestigious accolade comes on the back of several other awards this year including No.1 UK Hotel Chain from Which? and Hotel of the Year for The Midland at the Caterer and Hotelkeeper Awards.
“At the heart of QHotels is a great team of people working across our 21 hotels,” Purtill added. “Our ‘Inspired by You’ approach, which we introduced to the market last year, touches every area of our business including recruitment, training and operational delivery and as a result the people we employ are passionate and responsive; they genuinely enjoy serving our customers and giving them a tailored experience. It’s simple, but it makes a real difference”.
The group also received VenueVerdict’s Gold Standard Group award earlier in the year.
Meanwhile, boutique hotel The Arch London’s Head Concierge Theo Dubroy has been awarded the Golden Keys, an award celebrating the finest hotel concierges across the UK.
And while results are in for the above two awards, competition is set to heat up at Conference Centres of Excellence (CCE) as 10 finalists were announced in CCE’s 16th annual Chefs’ Challenge.

The competition’s finals will be held on 25 October in Milton Keynes. A cook-off competition will put skills to the test and an awards dinner will be held during the evening at Cranfield Management Development Centre.
CCE Marketing Manager Amanda Stacey said “Quality of food and exceptional service standards are so important for an excellent venue experience, and our venues consistently raise the bar higher and higher. Our annual competition is the perfect opportunity for chefs and their service teams to showcase their incredible talents and abilities, and we wish all the finalists the best of luck.”
