Global Experience Specialists (GES) has acquired international AV specialist Blitz Communications in a move that represents expansion into the live events, conference and exhibitions sector.
“GES has made a strategic decision globally to go into the AV market with our newest acquisition, and Blitz Communications is the perfect fit,” said GES Managing Director, Andy Gibb.
“They have a lot of clients in the congress and live events market which are two markets we have strategically targeted. We have already collaborated with them for more than two years on events, so it was an obvious match.
“The decision for GES to initially move into the AV market was made in America at the back end of last year so we started looking at targets at the beginning of this year, but only in the last three to four months have we seriously looked into Blitz.”
Gibbs said the plan was to leave Blitz as a standalone business. “They will be Blitz Communications, a GES company. Their management team remains, no closure of offices or redundancies. Because it is something completely new to us even though we operate in the same market, there’s no need to start merging or getting rid of anything.
“The plan is very much that we look at clients and markets that we can collaborate on and go to customers with a full service arm, whereas before we’d have said yes but would need someone to provide the AV but now we can go for the total offering.
Blitz has offices in London and Manchester and is the in-house AV service provider at five UK conference and exhibition venues including Excel London, Earls Court, Olympia London, Manchester Central, and The NEC.
Blitz MD Paul Hutton said the company was “thrilled” to be part of GES and looking forward to growing the business.
