The Beardmore Hotel Conference Centre is one of three Glasgow venues named as a finalist in the Green Tourism Goldstar Awards 2014.
The centre is the only Scottish hotel to have been shortlisted in the Best Hotel category, which also features Jurys Inn Brighton, Chewton Glen Hotel in Hampshire, Lancaster London and Radisson Blu Portman Hotel, London.
Fellow Glasgow venue IET Glasgow: Teacher Building has been nominated in the Conference/Events venue category, while Caledonian Court has been shortlisted in the Campus Accommodation category.
The GoldStar Awards recognise businesses that have gone ‘above and beyond’ to actively promote and implement sustainable, environmentally friendly practices for the benefit of customers and the organisation as a whole.
Other venues shortlisted across the 12 categories include Perth Concert Hall, Royal Armouries International in Leeds, Newlands Adventure Centre in Keswick and CREATE Environment Centre in Bristol.
Hotel Manager of The Beardmore Hotel Conference Centre, Gary Rice, said: “We have worked tirelessly over the past few years to ensure The Beardmore is an environmentally friendly and sustainable venue. Our recent installation of electric car charging points and dedication to promoting our Green Conference packages to organisers are just two of the steps taken.”
The Goldstar Awards take place during the Green Tourism Annual Conference in Manchester on 10 November.
