Edinburgh chosen to host European Summer M&I Forum

Meeting and Incentive Forums, run by Worldwide Events, has announced its events schedule for 2015, with Edinburgh a new destination addition to the 2015 roster.

The M&I Forum for Europe Summer 2015 is set to attract over 300 buyers to Edinburgh, 29 June – 3 July 2015.

A new M&I Forum Europe Spring 2015, will be launched in Dubai, 9-14 March 2015, while the M&I Forum Europe Autumn 2015 will be held in St Julian’s, Malta, 19-23 October 2015. The M&I Forum Eastern Europe 2015, takes place in Vienna, 22-26 November 2015.

Organisers say the new Dubai Forum aims to respond to a growing demand for more events targeting the destination.

Steen Jakobsen of the Dubai Convention & Events Bureau said: “Together with our partners we are looking forward to hosting the M&I Forum in Dubai. M&I Forums is one of the most professional and effective platforms for business meetings between high quality buyers and suppliers. M&I Forums gives us a chance to showcase what Dubai has on offer as a business event destination and to grow our share of the international business event market.”

The Summer Forum in Edinburgh is set to be the largest of the year, with an estimated 150 supplier tables and 330 buyers. Fergus Ewing, Scotland’s Tourism Minister, said: “Never before has Scotland hosted such a large-scale buyers event for the MICE market, so the M&I Summer Forum presents us with a unique opportunity to showcase this country’s range of services and hospitality.

“Led by the Business Tourism Team at VisitScotland, we are delighted to have won the bid to host this prestigious event,” said Ewing.

Since the first Meeting & Incentive Forum was launched in 2006 in London, the Forums’ format of one-to-one meetings and networking activities has been connecting event planners and MICE suppliers.

Today, participating suppliers conduct a series of private 18-minute meetings with a minimum of 50 qualified buyers during the four-day events. All meetings are pre-scheduled, with both the buyers and suppliers selecting their appointments. Buyers attend the events for two days and can choose which dates they prefer.

Networking opportunities are presented throughout the events including lunches, refreshment breaks, drink receptions, gala dinners and social activities which are also included.
