St George’s Park, home to The FA’s National Football Centre in Staffordshire, has officially opened its new Outdoor Leadership Centre.
The new centre has been designed in partnership with learning and development experts Grahame Robb Associates, which owns and operates the new facility. It is hoped the new centre will attract both sporting and business clients staying at the site, with coaching courses and local organisations also expected to be regular users of the facility.
St George’s Park says the new centre offers a unique setting to further develop leadership and teambuilding skills in an outdoor, experiential environment. There is a 40 foot climbing tower, linear high ropes and a range of low rope activities, as well as 15 different leadership and team exercises. In addition, this site has a Powerfan, archery range and laser combat zone.
“At St George’s Park we are committed to developing winners. Be it in sport, business or our daily lies, we are challenged with barriers that prevent us from achieving our goals. This new outdoor leadership centre will help equip those who visit us with the decision making and delegation skills needed to succeed,” said St George’s Park Chairman, David Sheepshanks, CBE.
“Not only will the centre help develop winners with integral leadership skills, but it has everything in place to be able to help challenge whether a team’s commitment, trust and risk-taking meets the requirements of their role. It will help our clients learn both key individual and teambuilding skills for everyday working life,” he added.
St George’s Park’s purpose-built facilities have already hosted almost 2,000 conference since it opened in October 2012, and its 24 England teams have now used the facility a total of 89 times.
