London-based events company Worldwide Events has appointed Chris McQue, former Director at Capita Incentives and founder of Creative Direction & Motivation (CDM), as Director of Buyer Relations.
McQue’s role will involve looking at all elements of the hosted buyer experience at M&I Forums, as well as overseeing the continuing development of the Memberzone online portal.
McQue’s background includes motivation and performance improvement, communications, training, organising events and corporate hospitality. In 2006, he started CDM, creating events and strategies for HBOS, Churchill Insurance, Nissan, Chevron and Johnson Services.
“After going solo for the last few years, I am excited to be joining such a young, cosmopolitan, enterprising and technologically savvy business at Worldwide Events, bringing my years of MICE experience back into the mainstream,” he says. “Driving business between key partners in what is essentially an entrepreneurial industry requires free-market thinking that is in touch with the underlying brand communication and performance-improvement disciplines in which I have worked throughout my career.”
Richard Barnes, MD of Worldwide Events, adds: “We’re delighted to have such a well-regarded professional as part of the senior team as we continue to expand and progress our market-leading B2B Forums and events.”
Worldwide Events specialises in B2B trade shows that have a one-on-one meeting format and operates nine Forums per year, attended by over 1,500 hosted buyers and 1,500 suppliers. Over 40,000 pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings take place at the Meeting & Incentive Forums and PRIVATE Forums annually.
“I joined Worldwide Events at an opportune time, starting with the largest-ever European M&I Forum in Istanbul when over 10,000 carefully matched meetings took place between hotels, venues, DMCs, NTOs and key MICE buyers,” says McQue.
McQue’s consultancy CDM will continue to handle a small number of ongoing projects in the multi-sport sector but will no longer manage end-to-end conference and incentive travel.
