MPI UK & Ireland CMP boot camp praised by London & Partners

Event association MPI UK & Ireland Chapter will host a boot camp at Excel London, 23-24 September, to support meeting professionals gain the internationally recognised Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation.

The efforts by MPI UK & Ireland to improve planner education and competitiveness have been praised by London’s convention bureau London & Partners

“The CMP designation represents one of the few recognised standards of excellence in today’s meetings and events industry and London & partners are delighted that MPI UK & Ireland will be delivering a credible and established programme of continuing education for experienced event professionals,” said Tracy Halliwell (pictured), MBE and Director of Major Events and Business Tourism.

“Any initiative that increases the gravitas of event professionals alongside other communication specialists is to be applauded and will only serve to further enhance the reputation of the UK as a premier event destination,” she added.

The boot camp, which has been championed by Liz Rice, VP for Certification on the MPI UK & Ireland Board of Directors, will be two days of specialist education for people working in the meetings industry. The mix of content will include strategic planning, project management, financial and risk management, marketing, site selection, event design and aims to help planners gain valuable Continuing Education credits as well as apply and prepare for the CMP exam.

Beri Kockya, Event Manager for ICSC Europe and Deputy VP of Certification on the MPI UK & Ireland Board has already attained her CMP and says there are real career and business benefits to be gained. “The CMP is an excellent opportunity to learn, consolidate and improve on existing knowledge of the meetings industry.

“The designation has helped to add value to my work as a a meeting professional as it taught me a wide range of topic including the way in which I think strategically about my meeting’s objectives, budget or the ROI, while simultaneously adding value to the company I represent,” Kockya added.
