Damon Albarn helps launch University venue refurbishment

Queen Mary University of London has hosted its first major live concert since its £6.3m refurbishment, with rock stalwart Damon Albarn performing with his band The Heavy Seas.
The multi-purpose Great Hall reopened in 2013 and features Art Deco styling with modern sound, lighting and audio-visual technology.
Events & Hospitality QM (Queen Mary’s hospitality brand) spokesman George Foden said: “With a long history of hosting live concerts during the 70s and 80s, we’re delighted the Great Hall is now making a welcome return to east London’s thriving live music scene. Thanks to the investment we’ve made in the venue, especially in the high-specification sound and lighting equipment, we’re confident the Great Hall will be hosting many more high profile artists and bands in the future.”
Events & Hospitality QM offers over 100 event spaces at the Mile End campus of Queen Mary, alongside facilities in the City of London and at Whitechapel.
