Ballogie Estate plans for conference centre lodged

Ballogie Estate, a family-run business on Royal Deeside in rural Aberdeenshire with origins dating back to 1850, has lodged its plans for the development of a £7m, 40-bedroom hotel, conference and events centre and spa.

The work will include renovating the former Potarch Hotel. Subject to planning and building warrant, work will start on the Ballogie Hotel & Spa next year, with a projected opening date of summer 2016.

Up to 45 jobs are expected to be created at the complex.

Randall Nicol, partner in Ballogie Estate Enterprises, said: “Nowhere else is there a four-star country hotel with the level of spa and event facilities that we are planning. The hotel will showcase the very best that Scotland has to offer – the countryside, the experience, the food and drink, as well as the best Scottish hospitality.”

The events venue will be designed to host 150 delegates for receptions or 120 for conferences and other celebratory events.

Nicol expects the nearby Westhill Business Park to provide some corporate and leisure business for the new centre.
