Brighton has won its bid to host the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID) international congress, 10-14 May 2016.
The five-day event is expected to attract up to 2,500 delegates and will generate an estimated £5m-plus in economic benefit to the city.
Due to the size of the event, the conference will take place at the Brighton Centre and the nearby Hilton Metropole Hotel.
“This is great news for Brighton and the result of a real team effort between the convention bureau and the venues involved,” said VisitBrighton’s Sales Manager, Darren Johnson. “Our mission is always to showcase the city and once Kenes, ESPID’s PCO, handed us the baton we ran with it. It’s great to have been selected and we now look forward to welcoming ESPID to the city.”
Saul Faust, Professor of Paediatric Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Southampton and one of the meeting Co-chairs, added: “We were impressed with the way the convention bureau presented the city and it’s clear the destination has a lot to offer delegates. Brighton offers a convenient location, quality venues, and a great range of bedstock at a competitive price.”
