Digital events agency, The Live Group, has developed a ‘Locator Function’ that will transform every delegate’s phone or tablet into a dynamic track and trace device.
The technology will allow visitors to make connections and network more productively through ibeacon technology, room mapping and augmented reality.
The Live Group’s Indoor Positioning System technology has already been tried and tested at events in the UK and Europe. It will be available from July 2014, and is aimed to help delegates make better use of their time at an event by quickly locating people with similar experiences, complementary skills, specialisms and interests based on profiling undertaken before and during the event.
“IPS technology is a major development for the events industry and one that can be used to create more profitable, productive and impactful events,” said Toby Lewis (pictured), Managing Director of The Live Group. “We’re the first business to use ibeacon technology in this way, and we now have a powerful product that can be easily utilised by event managers.”
The Locator Function will flag up relevant features and information such as seminar rooms, plenary sessions, facilities and food and beverage outlets. It will also allow delegates to message a specific group or individual. From an organisational point of view, event planners can track footfall to and from exhibitor stands, conference and seminar sessions.
“Using ibeacon technology we can map a space of any size and across multiple floors and layouts. The ibeacons allow the Locator Function to find delegates and show them on an interactive map or through augmented reality,” Lewis added.
“This technology works in tandem with our existing GreenGage delegate management and interactive technology, allowing delegates to filter their searches to individuals, organisations or even opinions.”
