SECC launches awards programme

The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) has launched an awards programme at IMEX Frankfurt, which will acknowledge the major contributions of some of the events that take place in the city.

The Associates of the SECC awards will be presented to association meetings that, through their content, have made significant impacts on their professional community, as well as for the wider public good.

The awards will be given to a select group of association meetings, and mark some of the major achievements of events held at the venue.

“We all understand the significant contribution conferences and meetings represent to the local economy, however, many events, through the quality of their production, content and experience, make impacts far beyond our shores and often into the daily lives of people around the world,” said Kathleen Warden, Director of Conference Sales at the SECC.

“These events do so in partnership with ourselves and our city, making us a part of it. We’re therefore delighted to be giving them this award.

“We also want to recognise this contributions and allow them to grow their influence further. With this in mind each associate will be rewarded with a bursary from the SECC to allow either a student, researcher or person from a developing county entry into the event,” she added.

The Associates of the SECC awards will be presented from May this year following the launch at IMEX; they will continue throughout 2014.
