Surrey-based UK travel management company (TMC), Portman, has been awarded with the Investors in People Gold Award, a certification achieved by 3.2 per cent of organisations in the UK.
The IIP Gold was awarded to Portman for going ‘above and beyond’ in the way the company cultivated a culture of appreciation across the business.
Portman CEO Michael Hare (pictured) says: “Portman’s core strength is its people management skills. Having worked my way from the bottom up in this exciting and fulfilling industry I am more able than most to relate to the challenges businesses face in their people management.
“The Investor in People framework immediately felt like a ‘second skin’ to me and I fully embraced the programme, along with all my colleagues. I am delighted to have achieved this status and now hope to engage in the process of becoming a champion.”
Fewer than 700 organisations have attained the Gold standard, awarded for meeting criteria, including learning and development, leadership skills and recognition and reward of staff.
