Thirty corporate and charity buyers attended a showcase with 22 exhibitors at Conference Aston recently.
The showcase was run in conjunction with venue finding agency myvenues.
Conference Aston showed off its recent £5.4m redevelopment project and the venue’s Director Lucy Talbot, said: “Events like this have been a long time coming for Birmingham and the good turn out shows there is an obvious demand in the city to meet buyers; we’re hopeful this will be the first of many similar events.”
Ben Aylward, owner of myvenues said: “This is a new venture for us, but we will be back again next year. Talking to clients, there is a buoyant feeling amongs the region and booking rates are on the up. Getting people in front of each other is key for us. There needs to be a much more active approach and a change of ethos. A lot of our buyers already know each other and this whole industry is built on face-to-face relationships.
“We have worked with Conference Aston for a long time, so we were pleased that they were the host for our first event outside of London. The visitors have been impressed by the facilities and have said that they did not realise that universities had facilities to this standard.”
