Belfast Waterfront to preview £29.5m expansion at IMEX

Belfast Waterfront Conference and Exhibition Centre is to preview its £29.5m development at the IMEX Frankfurt trade show, which opens 20 May at Messe Frankfurt.

Visitors to stand F420 at the show will enjoy a 3D fly through of the new facility, which will boast 4,000sqm of flexible conference, exhibition, banqueting and breakout space.

Expanding Northern Ireland’s only purpose-built conference centre is key to making Belfast a destination attractive to business tourists. After receiving confirmation of funding on 30 January, development plans got underway, with the initial enabling works already started.

The extended venue is set to open mid 2016 and the Waterfront management says it hopes to build on the centre’s 17-year history of securing national and international contracts.

This year, the Belfast Waterfront will be the headquarters for the Giro d`Italia Big Start (Grande Partenza) 2014, one of the world’s largest annual sporting events.
