Showsec signs five-year plan in Harrogate

Crowd management specialists, Showsec, have been awarded a five-year contract to provide services for conferences and events at the Harrogate International Centre.

The company says the contract is recognition for the work undertaken by its Yorkshire operation since Showsec was first engaged by HIC to provide security services.

“The conference and exhibition marketplace has been identified as a key area of development for the company, so to be presented with an opportunity like this is a major boost in that respect,” said Julian Kumah, Showsec’s Area Manager for Yorkshire.

“While we have been working informally with HIC for the past couple of years, winning this long-term contract allows us to plan ahead and develop our services.

“An important part of that future planning will be engaging more locally-based staff.”

Robert Penfold, Venue Services Manager at HIC, said: “We are happy with the new deal. What Showsec is bringing to us is a pool of highly-trained staff who are well-established in the Yorkshire region. They are experienced in the many kinds of events we hold here at HIC, so this will ensure our clients get the best levels of service and security possible.”
