The official launch of industry body for events and visual communication, EVCOM, took place at 30 Euston Square – Searcy’s, on 15 April, following the Eventia-IVCA merger.
Many of EVCOM’s members were in attendance and enjoyed a champagne reception followed by a brief presentation by Dale Parmenter, Chairman of EVCOM.
“The turnout exceeded our expectations with around 80 guests. It was great to see a good mix of members from Eventia and IVCA, plus potential new members. There was a brilliant atmosphere and a real buzz in the room. Steve Garvey (former Chairman of IVCA) and myself have also finally signed the agreement, so now as a board and secretariat we can make a difference for our members and really deliver on the promises included in the presentation,” Parmenter said.
The focus of the evening was the official signing and laying out of EVCOM’s plans for the next 12 months. Now with a full back office and a 20 strong board, the association’s aim is to make a difference working together with its members to inform, engage and inspire.
The association says members will gain from the larger organisation due to the greater resources on offer. The benefits for members include stronger representation and voice, more networking opportunities across a broader membership, a broader educational programme and an enlarged awards scheme.
EVCOM has already established specialist groups to address specific issues and opportunities these include: Education, Events, Regulation, Membership, Corporate Responsibility and Communications and these groups will continue to ensure that the core membership benefits such as: seminars, networking, awards, trade missions, newsletters and the website continue to grow and provide the right type of platform for all.
