David Cameron endorses APPG Inquiry for Events

Prime Minister David Cameron has endorsed the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Inquiry for Events.
Copies of the APPG Inquiry were sent to Cameron and other Government ministers. The endorsement comes ahead of this month’s launch of the 2014 Britain for Events campaign.
The Prime Minister praised the industry body for its ongoing promotion of business tourism in the UK.
“Business and events tourism represents an important and growing sector of our economy, so I do welcome the efforts of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events for the publication of this Inquiry report,” he said.

Direct spending by event attendees in the UK has increased by £3 billion since 2010 to £39.1 billion, as revealed in the Events are GREAT report launched at International Confex 2014.
“The work the APPG inquiry and campaign have done over the last year has been great and receiving glowing recognition from the Prime Minister is deserved endorsement for their commitment to the events industry,” said Michael Hirst, campaign supporter and chair of the Business Visits & Events Partnership.
“It’s now up to the industry working in partnership with government to see through the various recommendations in the inquiry report.”
The Britain for Events campaign is now gearing up for the International Festival for Business in July and the new National Events Month in October.
