Belfast Waterfront recently welcomed back the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT) International Surgical Conference. The venue hosted ASiT’s 2007 annual conference.
ASiT made the decision to return to Belfast for reasons including the established links with leading universities and hospitals, the city’s overall ability to accommodate a large-scale event, as well as transport links to serve its international delegates.
The 2014 conference was on a larger scale compared to the previous conference with 650 fellow trainees and 30-plus exhibitors in attendance.
This year’s conference kicked off with a welcome from the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Máirtín Ó Muilleoir, at the Civic Reception held in the venue’s bar and gallery areas.
“Delivering a conference which is great value for both our members and the association is important, but it is not enough to ensure a successful event” said Conference Director and Past President of ASiT, Ed Fitzgerald. “Knowing we had great support and a helpful team working on our behalf made this experience thoroughly enjoyable and created a memorable event.”
Jennifer Patterson, Revenue and Business Generation Manager at the Belfast Waterfront Conference and Exhibition Centre, added: “It was a pleasure to work with ASiT again and to welcome their members to Belfast Waterfront. The venue continues to play an instrumental role in supporting the socio economic development of the city and hosting the recent ASiT Conference generated over £750k for the local economy.”
